In July of 2004, founders Tim Wrisley and Troy Mills established Wheelhouse Media, LLC. with the intent to build a business that furthered the quality of life in Carlsbad. Wrisley and Mills, both born-and-bred Carlsbadians, have spent their entire careers in media and have taken their experience and put it towards this new venture.

In October of that same year, Carlsbad Magazine was born: a glossy, 4-color, award-winning magazine that showcases the great things Carlsbad has to offer. In August of 2006, Wheelhouse Media introduced as Carlsbad’s new online community and daily resource for “All Things Carlsbad.”

We work hard to produce each issue of Carlsbad Magazine, but it's definitely a labor of love. While some of the people behind the scenes have changed through the years, what has remained constant is a commitment to provide locals with a magazine worthy of their fine city.

Tim Wrisley

Wrisley has spent his entire career in the magazine industry, most of it working on the snow, skate and surf magazines of Transworld Media.

Troy Mills

Mills has held a variety of media jobs, with an emphasis on advertising sales.
